Why does white wine give me heartburn?

Wine, both white and red, have acids in them. When the acid reaches your stomach it can give you heart burn. If you're really in love with wine and couldn't possibly give it up, then you might want to try wines that are lower in acid (whites are lower than reds). Also, it could be the histamines in wine that when they reach your stomach causes a secretion of acid, therefore giving your heartburn. If your heartburn is really painful, then I would recommend staying away from all types of alcohol.
