Where does a broken hip hurt?

Hip pain is often difficult to localize effectively, and the patient usually describes the pain as "my hip hurts," which is rather unspecific. Pain from the hip joint may radiate and present as sympathetic pain in the groin, buttocks, thigh or lower abdomen (usually focused on the side of the injured hip).
