What should a person with guardianship get paid from the estate?

My mother is presently a private payer in a nursing home. I am her court appointed guardian for her assets. Her assets will soon be liquidated from all of her bills and I will be applying for Medicaid. What are the guidelines for guardianship pay? For the last two years I have taken approximately $1,500 a month. Will I be responsible for returning any of that when we apply?
