Seroquel (http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmedhealth/PMH0001030) is a medication used in the treatment of symptoms of schizophrenia and mania. Seroquel loses its effectiveness as time passes as your body gradually clears the drug from your blood system. Generally this at the rate of about half the drug being cleared every six hours. Because the effectiveness of the drug declines as it is cleared from the blood stream your doctor may prescribe an extended release capsule or have you take dosages of the medication throughout the day to keep a careful balance of the drug within your system.
