Risperidone is a new antipsychotic available everywhere since the early 1990s. Haldol is the best-known old-generation antipsychotic still being used in service. It's been said that risperdal is a newer version of haldol. Clinacial trials have led studies to believe that this new generation medication is more effective than the older medication. Haldol is given as a long acting injection lasting over four weeks. While risperdal can be used alone or in combination with other medicines for the short-term treatment of bipolar mania.
