The medication Plavix is is an anti-platelet drug most commonly used to prevent clots in the blood. It is prescribed to people who have had a heart attack or stroke, are at higher risk of heart attack or stroke or have other conditions such as Peripheral Artery Disease or surgery to have a coronary stent put in. Because Plavix interferes with blood clotting, people who have had conditions such as bleeding disorders, asthma or stomach ulcers should not take the medication.
