Hospice respite care is when a hospice staff will help a care giver for a specified amount of time in order to let the care givers emotional and physical rest from their loved one who is at the end of their life. Respite means rest, and this is exactly what hospice respite care is intended to do. The stress that comes along with being the caregiver to a loved one can lead to health problems, mental health issues, and emotional distress. Hospice respite care intends to help allow the care giver time to rest and take care of themselves properly to assure that they are able to stay healthy for their loved one. This information was found on the official Hospice website.
