What is ATL leukemia?

ATL Leukemia also know as Adult T-Cell Leukemia is a rare cancer of the immune system, affecting the body's T-cells. T-Cells is a type of white blood cell that is of key importance to the immune system and is at the core of adaptive immunity, the system that tailors the body's immune response to specific pathogens. ATL starts in the bone marrow, the soft tissue inside most bones. Over time the Leukemia cells can crowd out the normal cells which leads to bleeding and infections.
