Melanie Haiken, Caring.com Senior Editor answered:
An Albuterol updraft is a special type of inhaler to help with chronic cough. Many cancer patients suffer from a chronic cough, which can be a side effect of chemotherapy or radiation, or a symptom of cancer that has spread to the lungs. To help patients control their coughs and be more comfortable, doctors use a class of drugs called bronchodilators that work by relaxing and opening the air passages.
Albuterol is one of the most common bronchodilators, and it?s often given in an inhaler. An updraft nebulizer is a specialized type of inhaler that helps the medication get deeper into the lungs.
