You would have to reach much higher dose of Ambien than you would think in order to get a fatal dose. When in clinical trials mice were given 80 mg and survived without a problem, and without sufficient evidence because of lack of deaths the thought in the medical community is that around 700 mg is a lethal dose. However if you mix Ambien with other sleep medications there is a much higher risk of reaching a lethal dose. One side effect of Ambien is suicidal thoughts, and many more of these deaths have occurred as opposed to a lethal overdose.
