The first and most severe symptom of a broken hip will be extreme and severe pain in the hip area. Most people who break their hip also become immobile or barely able to walk. You will not be able to put pressure on your hips and stand with all your body weight either with a broken hip. In the area that is broken, there will be bruising, swelling, and stiffness as well. Most hip fractures occur in falling, and the elderly are the most common people to suffer broken hips. Treatment normally takes weeks and possibly months depending on how severe the injury is and age. Treatment normally has to consist of physical therapy after the hip has healed some.
