What are my responsibilities as my mom nears her death? She has advanced Alzheimer's and after six years of sole caregiving, I recently had to place her in a private home that cares for my mom similar to the way I did. My health suffered immensely, but my caregiving capabilities had reached its maximum, and I could no longer lift my mom or help her properly anymore. I am very sad without her, but go and see her often and call every other day. What I want to know is what should I be doing now before she dies? I have Power of Attorney. I am the Executrix of the Will. Should I be contacting the funeral home where she has already bought a Mausoleum? Should I be selecting the songs, what she is going to wear, the eulogy, the guest list? I do not want to wait until the last minute. I prefer to get all details handled now or at least know what to do.
