At what age do most women get ovarian cancer?
I wondered at what age women get ovarian cancer, because it seems like something that strikes mostly older women. And that's true; the median age for diagnosis is 63 years of age.
Younger women do get ovarian cancer, but not at nearly the rates of women age 55 and over. In fact, only about 12 percent of the women diagnosed with ovarian cancer are under age 45. Less than 19 percent are between 45 and 55, and the rest are 55 and older. (You can see a bit more of a breakdown for what age women get ovarian cancer, from the National Cancer Institute, in the answer for "Who gets ovarian cancer?" on this site.)
