It can, though weight gain and ovarian cancer don't seem to go hand in hand. I see that the National Institutes of Health and other groups list weight gain or weight loss as a possible symptoms for ovarian cancer. It's not given as an early symptom, or one of the most common signs, but it is something that's sometime seen in women with ovarian cancer.

If I had weight gain or loss and other symptoms, especially more common ones like bloating, pelvic pressure, abdominal pain, increased abdominal size, and/or difficulty eating, I'd consider the possibility that the weight gain had something to do with ovarian cancer
