How will uterine cancer affect my pregnancy?
Uterine cancer happens when the endometrium grows out of control and spreads to other tissues throughout the body. Emdometrial growth is triggered by estrogen and progesterone. When being diagnosed with cancer, including uterine cancer, during pregnancy, many women are forced to make a decision regarding their health or continuing the pregnancy. Surgery, chemotherapy and radiation can all harm a fetus and aren't used during pregnancy for this reason. Cancer of the uterus and fallopian tubes rarely occurs during pregnancy. In fact, there are only 39,000 new cases of uterine cancer each year. With uterine body cancer, most women can't even get pregnant because of it. With uterine cervical cancer, a pregnancy would be fine and some treatments can even be performed during pregnancy.
