Are urinary tract infections more common in Alzheimer's...
Urinary tract infections in Alzheimer’s patients may be more common than people think. My wife had one and we didn’t even know what it was. Her balance was off, so I took her to the doctor and they found that she had a UTI. After she had antibiotics, her balance was better.
People with Alzheimer’s, at least in the more advanced stages, often can’t tell you if they have pain. They may not even understand it. And some urinary tract infections aren’t even painful. So I think we need to watch for signs of urinary tract infections in people with Alzheimer’s. It’s one more thing we can do to help.
