My father was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease about 9 years ago. About two years ago he started having an urge to urinate during his "off" period. He had to helped to the bathroom but could never pass urine. This happened 3-4 times till the time he took his medicine. After that he used to walk to the bathroom by himself and was able to urinate. This trend has changed for the past few months and now he says that he cannot walk himself to the bathroom in time and ends up wetting the bed. Has anyone experienced this before and has found a solution that has provided relief? Thanks.

My father at age 93 was diagnosed mid-2009 with PD. He is continuing to be treated for that with Carbidopa-Levo along with years of treatment for prostate cancer. So the issue of frequent urination 4x a night was becoming a fall risk so we started using what is referred to as a "Texas" or condom catheter. He wears a condom that connects to a urinary drainage bag. This has been working well when it does so long as he doesn't pull of the condom in his sleep. Most likely he cannot put on the condom himself and will need assistance. I would also suggest bed rails or chairs to remind him not to get up. Of course all of this above will not work if he has progressive dementia.
