What is the stage 3 testicular cancer survival rate?
I think the testicular cancer stage 3 survival rate depends on the size of the tumor and when treatment is started. Depending on where it has spread and what the markers (levels of AFP, HCG and LDH in the blood) are, it will be categorized as good prognosis, intermediate prognosis, or poor prognosis.
According to the American Cancer Society, the five-year survival rate for patients with advanced stages of testicular cancer with a good prognosis is 91 percent, for an intermediate prognosis it's 79 percent, and for a poor prognosis it's 48 percent.
But they suggest also that the testicular cancer stage 3 survival rates may be even better than this because they're taken from a study of patients who were diagnosed and treated more than 10 years ago, and there have been improvements since then.
