Can steroids cause brain cancer?
There is no evidence that steroids can cause brain cancer. Actually, before treatment begins for treating brain cancer most patients are given steroids. These drugs can relieve swelling that a patient could start or will be suffering from. The treatment then continues with anticonvulsant medicine to prevent or stop any seizures. If there is a sign of hydrocephalus (fluid accumulation around the brain) the patient will need a shunt to drain the fluid. The common treatment for most tumors/ brain cancer is surgery. To remove brain tumors, a neurosurgeon opens the skull in a surgery called a craniotomy. This information was gathered from: http://www.elekta.com/patient_international_brain_tumors.php
