My grandmother has been ill over the last year. She is in and out of the hospital with breathing problems. She always tells us the hospitalizations are connected to her COPD. Yesterday, I picked her up fromt the hospital and the nurse happened to mention congestive heart failure. I was shocked because this was the first I had heard of it. The nurse proceed to advise me that she has a history of congestive heart failure that she hasn't been telling anyone about.
The question I have is since she has kept her condition secretive I am worried that she may not have much longer to live and is keeping this to herself as well. I know without a lot of details it will be hard for anyone to answer but here is what I do know: she cannot sleep lying down because it's impossible for her to breath if she's lying flat, she cannot do normal daily activities without losing her breath and having to sit down or take a breathing treatment, even when resting she is often times out of breath, she has been in and out of the hospital quite frequently over the past six months--usually about once a month to every six weeks. I'm not an expert but I would have to assume she is in the severe stages?? Any information would be helpful!
