What is small cell lung cancer?
Sadly, I learned what small cell lung cancer (SCLC) is when my dad was diagnosed. Here are some of the basics: Small cell lung cancer counts for about 10–15% of all lung cancers. It’s almost always caused by smoking. It starts in the lungs, but spreads throughout the body fairly quickly, so it often isn’t diagnosed until after it’s too late to cure. Surgery is rarely an option for small cell lung cancer.
I have been told by my Dr. thstn I have small cell cancer. He has also told me thst they have caught it at very early stage.I am having Kemo. and going to Rad 35 time's'5day's a week for 7week's.My question is at early stages is it treatable .I have had two Ct can's and they say I have no outher cancer in me .
Sadly we lost our Father to small cell carcinoma or SCLC 4 months after being diagnosed. It had spread to his liver by that time. He only made it through 3 chemo treatments before he got an infection on Monday and died Wednesday Morning surounded by family. All our prayers kept him alive through Christmas and he passed on January 15. 2003. We miss you Dad! Love your children, Mark, Lynn, Jean and Paul Haefemeyer
