Is renal cancer fatal?
A sad, but natural question to ask: “is renal cancer fatal?” In the book, 100 Questions & Answers About Kidney Cancer, Steven C. Campbell, MD, says “the majority of patients with kidney cancer do not die of their disease.” He goes on to say that approximately 13,000 people will die from kidney cancer a year in the U.S., and many of those patients will have advanced or aggressive cancer at the time of their diagnosis. “Since the disease can involve many different organs, death from advanced disease is usually due to a combination of medical issues causing gradual weight loss and failure to thrive,” he continues in his answer to “is renal cancer fatal?”
