Is there a program I can get into, I have NO insurance, and need an exam. Both my parents died of lung cancer and it seems like I'm starting to sound like them in my breathing. I have no money.

If you have very low savings or other assets other than the house you live in, and you have low monthly income, you might qualify for the Medicaid program in See also:

your state. If you qualify for Medicaid, the program can pay almost the full amount of all your medical bills. This would include screening for lung disease. To find out the eligibility rules for Medicaid in your state, and to begin the application process, go online to any search engine and enter "Medicaid" and the name of your state. This will take you to the main Web page for the Medicaid program in your state, which can direct you to a local Medicaid office close to where you live. Or, you can get the same information by calling the Eldercare Locator toll-free at 800-677-1116.

Whether or not you are eligible for Medicaid, you might want to contact the local chapter of the American Lung Association. The Lung Association's Web site has a tool to give you contact information for the local chapter nearest you. The local chapter may be able to give you information about free or low-cost screening or examinations for your lungs.
