My elderly mother suffered a stroke two months ago. She is 86 years old. She is suffering terribly with headaches, pain behind her eyes, sore ear and neck. Painkillers do not help. She suffered a large stroke to the right side of her brain and I have been told that this area affects emotions and motivation. She is very depressed and cries a lot. All she has been offered for the pain is co-codamol. She says she so wants to get better but as long as she is in pain like this she is finding it impossible. She is also having very vivid dreams at night (sertraline antidepressant has been increased from 50mg to 100 mg per day). Any light you can shed on these symptoms would be appreciated especially regarding the pain in her eyes and head and if any particular medication would be more suitable.
