I’ve often wondered, Can pepper cause stomach cancer? For generations, doctors have told patients not to eat too many spicy foods because it can cause stomach problems. Since eating a lot of salty, smoked, or pickled foods are listed among the possible risk factors of stomach cancer, you’d think that spicy foods, like pepper, would also be harmful. But from all the research I’ve read on the causes of the disease (for example, there’s some information about this on the Cebu Cardiovascular Center), so far there is no scientific basis to believe that spicy foods like pepper cause stomach cancer.
