How can we pay for the nursing home?

My mother-in-law is in a nursing home at over $5,000 a month. Do we have to sell everything there is to keep her there? She is 96 years old. We have already cashed in one CD and have a small one left. She also has a house and several acres of property. My husband is the only surviving relative.
