What is the treatment for osteoporosis?
There are several treatments for Osteoporosis. Physical therapy can help you build up your muscle and bone strength, improve your posture and help guard against falls - a leading cause of broken bones in osteoporosis patients. Drugs your doctor can prescribe include Evista, Forteo, biphosphonates and calcitonin. Hormone therapy - estrogen for women, testosterone for men - has been shown to be helpful, but does have significant side effects and is not the first treatment doctors recommend. Adding various supplements to your diet can help as well, particularly Vitamin D and calcium, and avoiding too much protein in your daily diet will help your system keep your bones strong.
eat the food in the list, exercise cerefully and see a doctor. Do this while young so it does not come as a surprise when you are in your 50s.
I was diagnosed with Osteoporosis when I was in my early 40's(early menopause and hate milk)My doc wanted me to take Fosomex,as I do not take any medication I did a bunch of research and went to my Naturapath doc,I started taking Pearl Calcium, minerals and vits, stopped eating red meat and added more vegs and fruit. The PH balance in your body is very important,if you are too acidic your body will try to balance its self by taking calcium from your bones.Weight bearing excercise is important too.I had a bone density test 2years later........I no longer have Osteoporosis!
