My mother of 82 has been diagnosed with alzheimers for a few years. She was living at home with my father until he died in March. My sister moved in to take care of her, but attempted to do it withour sitters. Money was availble to her to hire them. Now mom has gone down and is not able to walk without assistance and needs encouragment to eat. Her doctor insists on nursing home placement. My brother wanted to get around the clock sitters for her and have her move in to his house. Is the nursing home really the better place for her when she won't have her family around much? We all live in different areas of the country. She is very dependent on us and has never been a social person. Thanks for any insight you can give. I feel really bad that my sister put her in the home and don't know if I should go get her. june
