My father died interstate and my mother is in a nursing home with Alzheimer's and is mentally incompetent. An elder sister (we are 10 siblings) has always lived at home and is Power of Attorney. My sister's ability to make competent decisions regarding mom's care and asset dispositon is suspect (she drinks a lot) and she is secretive and obstinate when trying to get information regarding the estsate. We are at the 6 month anniversary of dad's death and assets will be disbursed 50/50 to mom and kids. Are my worries that my sister may commit outright fraud/ theft with remaining assets unwarranted or are there checks against this sort of activity?
