My 91 y.o. mother was diagnosed with COPD. At the time, she had been living in an fully enclosed apartment building where smoking is allowed in the apartments. I believe this was a big contributor to her disease. However her husband of 48 years also smoked therefore she was exposed to second hand smoke as was I. Due to circumstances in which we recently moved twice, we ended up living once again in the same apartment building she was when diagnosed. I am hoping that we don't live here very long as our current lease is 6 months. I am curious if I could be developing COPD because of this. I'm guessing it depends how much you are exposed to the cigarette materials that cause COPD and other health factors. Unfortunately, I am unemployed and cannot afford to have a chest xray at this time. Please let me know what you think.
