Mr Matthews, In your answer to this question (Am I responsible for NH costs for my Dad?), you should have stipulated that, at least in some states such as ours, even if your parent qualifies for Medicaid to cover NH costs, after the resident dies, the state can come back and attach the estate. I've known several adult children who were very distressed after the parent died to find that the state owned mother's house, especially if they were living in it!
