Can lip biting cause mouth cancer?

Doctors suspect that biting your lip or inside of your mouth can cause mouth cancer. However, there isn't solid data to prove that biting your lip / mouth causes oral cancer (or disprove it). It's probably best to avoid biting your lip / mouth anyway as it could cause viral infections in your lips / mouth.
