Is it all right to bathe in warm water when there is a blood clot in a toe?
Expert Answer by Jennifer Serafin
It's OK to bathe in warm water if the blood clot is internal (in the inside of the leg -- this is called a deep vein thrombosis) and the doctor has given the OK to getting out of bed and doing activities. If the blood clot is on the outside skin (like a wound), I'd ask the doctor before I bathed it in warm water. This could dislodge the clot and cause bleeding.
