Basically, if an immediate relative (immediate family, aunts, uncles, grandparents, etc.) has had it, it's likely an Alzheimer’s predisposition exists in the family tree. However, often this predisposition can be hard to trace, as in the past, Alzheimer’s was often confused with significant dementia, depression or even a long lasting “nervous breakdowns.” I think since there can be a predisposition to inheriting Alzheimer’s, those so genetically exposed need to stay current with the medical research in the area.
