Where can I get free legal advice for elder law?

Question from Caring.com Community Member, Smith

I have durable power of attorney over my father, but the bank would not accept it. I was told to get conservatorship, which i did. This is very costly. I had to be bonded, pay a lawyer, pay a guardian atlitem, and now I have to show inventory and the lawyer wants to do this. This is all because I tried to stop elder fraud (with my dad). I feel the state is also taking his money because the fees will come out of his account. Why have durable power of attorney? I thought this was to avoid costly probate??? (PLUS HE HAS A WILL AND TRUST.) I also had to get guardanship, because in order to get the person arrested who is doing the fraud I needed this to help prosecute them. I am quite disgusted. All I wanted to do is help my father and now I have to pay the state. Is there no trust in anyone? I'm very confused over this. Can anyone can give free legal advice for elder law?
