How to title new property? My parents are purchasing a new home. We know if it is shown as an asset, the state (IL) will require them to sell the house and use the proceeds for long term care costs before Medicaid will pay. If the property is titled as part of a Land trust or Living trust, does that protect the property from the state? If they have the property titled in their names now and have it moved into a trust in the near future does that affect the state's ability to require it be sold? The closing is quickly approaching. Any help you can provide would be appreciated.
