How can I test myself for testicular cancer?
It's important to know how to test yourself for testicular cancer. As I mentioned in another question on self exams for testicular cancer, there are good directions for doing a self exam on The Testicular Cancer Resource Center website.
They recommend doing the self exam after a warm shower or bath, when it's easier to detect unusual lumps -- and that's basically what you're looking for. If you find one (or have other signs, like a dull ache in the lower abdomen or groin, a feeling of heaviness in the scrotum, enlargement or significant decrease in the size of a testicle, pain or discomfort in a testicle, or enlargement or tenderness of the breasts), head to the doctor.
These signs aren't always cancer, of course, but once you know how to test yourself for testicular cancer, you'll be able to get any symptoms checked out early on.
