Where do I start to get help for my friend who takes pain killers and drinks?

My friend takes painkillers and drinks all the time. How should I talk to my friend? Where do I start to get help for her? This is hurting everyone in her family. She is being hurt by all these addictions.

If she is an alcoholic she could have a seizure if not properly detoxed from it. Opiate addiction (pain pills) can be painful, but not fatal, and there is advances in pharmocotherapy that could be helpful and beneficial, such as suboxone. Go to Al-Anon, they will help you with advice. Its so hard to convince someone that they have a problem, when they don't want to believe it or see it.
