How can I convince my dad that he doesn't need new glasses?

Q
LAD asked...
My 88 year old father has dementia and macular degeneration. He's been given all types of special glasses that he says don't work. Now I think he's completely forgotten that he has macular degeneration and says he needs new glasses. He's insisting that I take him to the eye doctor when I come for a 3 day visit. How do I respond?

Just take him to the eye doctor. It is just an hour out of your day and the eye doctor can back you up by telling your father the same thing. I know he won't remember so maybe get the doctor to write something that you can show him when he forgets.
