How many people are diagnosed with pancreatic cancer each...
The American Cancer Society estimated that about 42,470 people were diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in the U.S. last year. I became sort of obsessed with these stats when a close family member was diagnosed. I also found out that although pancreatic cancer is the fourth leading cause of cancer death overall, the lifetime risk of developing it is about 1 in 72 — or 1.38%. The ACS says that the number of people diagnosed with pancreatic cancer each year has declined over the past 15 to 25 years, but I’ve also seen reports that dispute that.
