Lantus is a long lasting medication that is used to control blood sugar. It provides a steady amount of insulin throughout the day.Lantus is a hormone that is naturally produced by the pancreas.Lantus is given in a single dose every 24 hours. It is in liquid form outside the body. Once the liquid is injected it turns into tiny crystals. The crystals disolve during the day, little bits at a time. It is processed thru the body and released throughout the day. This helps keep the bodies sugar lever from spiking and falling during the day.
