Q
An anonymous caregiver asked...
What do you do to help a parent that is addicted to pain killers, for many years, and for the other parent , who is her enabler? They are both very stubborn and set in their ways and will not even consider that she has a problem.

I would suggest communicating your concerns with your parent's doctor. Although privacy laws will prohibit the doctor from speaking to you about her health without her permission, you can definitely still share your concerns with the doctor.

I also highly recommend Al-Anon as a place of support for yourself. Al-Anon provides support for the friends and family members of alcoholics and addicts. It really helped me to be around others who were in a similar situation. Best of luck to you!
