My mother, of a relativley young age (early 60's), has been diagnosed with acute congestive heart failure, is a diabetic, with arthritis, and high blood pressure. She is very obese and the doctor has suggested that she be admitted to a hospital, but she declined. The doc has taken her off her blood pressure and arthritis meds becasue they cause water weight around her heart. I'm worried that she is not accepting the care that she needs because she is scared of the hospital- both her parents passed on in a hospital bed and I don't think that she wants to do that to her kids. She is currently living with me, my wife and 2 kids, on short term disabilty. What can i do to convince her that she needs the care of a hospital? Or should I not push a stubborn woman to the brink, raising her stress level, and worsening her condition?
