Generally, high thyroglobulin levels after thyroid cancer may mean a recurrence. This is because thyroid hormone is normally stored in the thyroid as thyroglobulin. And if the whole thyroid has been removed, there should be very little or no thyroglobulin in the blood. So when doctor's test your blood and find you have high thyroglobulin levels after cancer surgery follow up testing is extremely important. Hope this info is helpful. Don't want to scare you. Just thought you should know the facts.
