Hello. I am a 28 year old male. Father of four boys and a husband. In may, 2000, I was T-boned in my car. My spine was fractured in three spots. I had a double fusion to fix it. It is still quite sore but I handle it. I have several side effects from the accident. The hardest one to deal with is the incontinence. I have a neurogenic bladder and bowel. I can make it to the bathroom for the BM's but if they are very loose then I cannot. I do not feel my bladder for the most part and have saddle numbness. I have tried many options and medications. But I have worn adult diapers since the wreck. My question is this: I have chronic pancreatitis and am dealing with tumors on the pancreas and left kidney. I frequently get admitted to the hospital for I.V. fluids and pain medications. I wear a full back brace all the time and it is very difficult to change my self when wet and especially when soiled. But the nurses never offer to help me. I have written to them and verbally asked for help and they refuse. I am aware of the perverts out there that get off on diapers and I am afraid that the nurses and or doctors think that I am like that. I assure you that I am not. I have been diagnosed over and over. Soon, I hope, I will visit the Mayo clinic to get an artificial sphincter in my rectum. I don't like diapers but have no choice. But how can I get the nurses to help me? With an I.V. in my arm, lots of pain and a back brace, it is very hard to do it your self. Can you give some advice?
