It can. However, hashimoto's thyroiditis turning into thyroid cancer isn't always foregone conclusion. According to one study I read, about 29 percent of Hashimoto's thyroiditis patients develop thyroid cancer. So I guess what I'm saying it that although hashimoto's thyroiditis turning into thyroid cancer isn't a guarantee, there's clearly a link. My guess is if you have this disease, your endocrinologist will want to monitor your health carefully. Hope I've been helpful.
