What happens in the end stage of thyroid cancer?

What happens in the end stage of thyroid cancer really depends on where the cancer has spread. In other words, you will have different symptoms, depending on where the cancer has settled. I believe lung, liver and bone are common places for thyroid cancer to spread. However, with anaplastic, the most deadly form, the disease is so aggressive that it's often not diagnosed until the primary tumor is inoperable. In this case, airway obstruction, vascular invasion, in addition to distant metastases can cause complications and, ultimately, death. Obviously, these same things could happen in the end stage of thyroid cancer with other forms of the disease if left untreated.
