in small doses, lower then you would use to treat depression, has a very positive effect on people suffering from IBS. Given the painful nature of that disorder it's easy to see why people would be willing to give it a try to see if it can help them too. It is important to remember though that Wellbutrin has not been tested and cleared by the FDA as a treatment for IBS. It's meant to be used in the treatment of depression and any time you use a drug "off label" there could be unforeseen side effects which might make things even worse.
