Q
Does restless leg syndrome cause pain?
Answers
A
Restless leg syndrome does not cause actual pain. It causes more of an unpleasant sensation in the legs that can only be relieved by moving them. Some of these sensations have been described as bubbling, crawling, pulling and aching. All of these sensations lead the patient to have the urge to move his/her legs, which nearly always relieves the sensations. These sensations can last for up to one hour before they disappear and are very difficult to ignore. Generally these sensations come about when the patient lies down to go to sleep or is sitting for an extended period of time.
