My mother is the widow of a veteran. How do we go about getting monthly benefits for her? What would prevent her from receiving her husbands benefits? She has a home which she cannot live in due to her dementia.

I suggest you talk with an eldercare consultant or directly with the VA about the VA Aid & Attendance Benefit..It provides a benefit when your medical expenses exceed your income ...provided your mother qualifies based on your fathers service record..
